The Statue of Liberty

These are the great words inscribed at the base of the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breath free air, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore, Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door.” Great words indeed; except for the poor and homeless American Indians – the unfinished business of the United States government since more than 200 years ago.
