Astronomy

According to the science of astronomy, there are more than 400 billion stars and planets that comprise the Milky Way Galaxy. But there are more than a trillion of such galaxies comprising the cosmos. In this light, the planet earth is like a grain of sand, and we, the people, are like parasites living on the surface of the earth.
According to theology, however, we must pride ourselves into believing that God made man in his own image and likeness. Poch Suzara

As Carl Sagan says, theology is so provincialist that it posits a deity that's interested in one species on one planet in a universe a million million million million (1 x 10^24) kilometers in diameter with quadrillions upon quadrillions of celestial objects including other planets. That's the kind of silliness you end up with when you start a religion/worldview without the benefit of the kind and breadth of scientific knoweldge that we have today. And it's going to get even sillier as our scientific understanding progresses.
