God Bless - No thanks
GOD BLESS YOU are words uttered daily by millions of religiously dumbstruck Filipinos everywhere. But if millions of Filipinos were truly blessed by God, how come millions of Filipinos continue to live under misery, filth, and poverty in this poor and backward in this Asia’s only Christian country? In the meantime, in the bible itself, here are examples of words uttered by a kind and loving God in the business of blessing the faithools: “Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces." You have twisted a Bible quote. God was speaking to evildoers in the harsh wastelands of the Old Testament. That quote does not apply today. Besides, those people knowingly thumbed their noses at God, and paid the consequences.
As for human suffering, the Bible says that Earth is a test, a place where true faith can be made like a steel blade in a forge, or silver in a crucible. The apostles endured great suffering, all for the Lord. Look 'em up! Almost all of them died violently for spreading the "Good News" -and get this- they went smiling! They knew that they were saving souls and would see their Creator soon. They received a "Martyr's crown" for their deeds, and are in God's prescence as we speak! This mortal life is ut a vapor in the wind compared to the finality of eternity. Yes, bad things happen to good people, but God is still watching. Sure, he could snap his fingers and make us all rich and happy. However- would we all be TRUE believers after that, or just freeloaders? God wants us to have a "burning passion" for him, not just a lukewarm kinda-sorta. You gotta go all out for God!
