Who Gives a Hoot about our Scientists and Technologists

Sept.27, 2-12 Philippine Daily Inquirer Letter to the Editors Dear Sir: In our sick society, in order to maintain ourselves famous worldwide as the Sick Man of Asia - we are far more fascinated with the works of our manicurists, pedicurists, hair-stylists, florists, and indeed, the catechists and the exorcists. We couldn't give a hoot about the works of Filipino scientists and technologists to rescue our sick country out of its poverty, religious misery, political stupidity, and social insanity! And to think that as the only Christian country in Asia since the 16th century, in this already 21st century - we still faithfully believe that God has always blessed our poor and backward country!
