On Being Spiritual

Most people believe that being spiritual is only about listening to others preaching bombastic garbage from the holy bible. On the contrary, being spiritual is about questioning everything, especially questioning the bible as it contains plenty of nothing. After more than 4,000 years of messages from God in the Old Testament and from Jesus, the Son of God, in the New Testament – look at our world still sapped with so many destructive religious messages such as God loves the world. Corruption

Corruption may have been invented in China. But thanks to the pardon of crime and the forgiveness of sin - corruption was perfected as a way of life; especially in Congress and in the Senate of the Philippine government. They seek not solutions to national problems, but seek instead only money and power. When they do get money, plenty of it, money made either by lies or by deception, or made by hook or by crook, they just continue to be selfish, greedy, stupid, insecure, corrupt, and insane. God Revealed in Nature

Nature is terrible and cruel. It cares nothing for human values. Nature is also wasteful. Moreover, nature has only to do with birth, death, and decay. Nothing is permanent in nature. Why Something

Why the existence of something rather than nothing? The implication is that there is a creator responsible for that something. Well, this is all fine and dandy. But why only a male God responsible for that something? Why not instead a female goddess responsible for everything?

Quality Education

If quality education starts with the teachers, the government can do a great deal to transform by improving the conditions for teachers. Unfortunately, this is not enough. What is mostly needed is the scientific outlook or, simply, the love of the truth in classrooms. Bertrand Russell explained it in plain language: “I wish to propose for the reader’s favorable consideration a doctrine which may, I fear, appear wildly paradoxical and subversive. The doctrine in question is this: that it is undesirable to believe a proposition when there is no ground whatever for supposing it true." If this doctrine were widespread and generally accepted and practiced in our schools, colleges, and universities, it will revolutionize from backward to forward the Filipino way of life in the Philippines. Atheist Defined

Dictionary says an atheist is one who denies the existence of God. This is hogwash. What we atheists deny is that God has absolutely anything to do with existence. Otherwise, the proofs of the existence of God should have already been established centuries ago. In this already 21st century – the Christians, the Jews, and the Muslims still hate and kill each other over who or what such weird supernatural beings should be called: - God? Allah? Yahweh? Or what have you! Now let us assume for the sake of the argument that God exist somewhere out there. Does God really have such an uneasy vanity as to be terrestrially upset just because we atheists do not believe in his terrestrial existence? If we atheists were able to declare that God does not exist, how come God could not be return the compliment by also declaring that the atheists do not exist? Yet here we are existing as clean and as bright as the sun – the real creator of life on this earth! If we must believe in something, let us believe in the existence of the sun. Ignorance

Ignorance establishes its own blindness; prevents its own enlightenment; and, belittles human intelligence. Ignorance is bliss and has always been precisely what the subject of theology has been all about. Look how the theologians are still ignorant of the knowledge whether God as a He, a She, or an It!

Newspapers

Our newspapers seem incomplete unless they report death, murder, rape, robbery, and other forms of lawlessness and crime, not to mention the life and times of the tootie frooties and patuties famous in our sick society. What is the most pressing issue besetting our country today?

I say blind faith. We are still blind with so much faith in the power of stupid prayer.

100 Trillion Cells

The 100 trillion cells that are bundled up together comprising our body are not human cells, but tiny animal cells. It is amazing how such tiny creatures together could evolve into our physical form and still more amazing how such little devils could evolve as thinking human beings.

Religion Against Science

All the melodramatic quarrels of religion against science should have already been settled thousands of years ago. The findings of science should have already been reported in the bible – a book written by inspired authors of an All-knowing God. Obviously, God failed to inspire his bible authors about the wonders of science because God knew nothing of the scientific way of thinking.
In school, we were taught to believe that God is omni-present. And yet, God has always been omni-absent. God was not present to edit the works of His inspired authors who recklessly wrote such nonsense as “Cain knew his wife,” or that “Joshua commanded the sun to stop,” or that God told Noah to save not his neighbors, but to “save the animals,” or that dead characters in the Old and in the New testament were able to resurrect themselves back to life. Russell and Dawkins

Bertrand Russell was once accused of being “lecherous, salacious, libidinous, lustful, venerous, erotomaniac, aphrodisiac, atheistic, irreverent, narrow-minded, bigoted, untruthful, and bereft of moral fibre.”

On the contrary, Russell was one of the kindest philosophers who ever lived. In his time in many countries, he intellectually taught millions of people to be courageous with self-respect and to be comfortable with human dignity.

Next to Russell, I have the greatest respect and admiration for the famous atheist-biologist Richard Dawkins. He recently published “The God Delusion” – a best seller in the USA and Britain, it is now also coming out in 30 foreign editions, shooting onto best seller lists in Italy, Germany, Brazil and Spain.

I particularly enjoyed reading Dawkins’ description of God of the Old Testament - “arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction… a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sado-masochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” Poch Suzara

If God is Dead

“If God is dead then everything is permissible” is not an argument against a dead God, but an argument against a living God! Why does God allow the sinner to enjoy his sins and then enjoy even more not only the forgiveness of sin by God, but also enjoy the offer of paradise in the hereafter? Poch Suzara

The Bible

We are a nation of bible believers. Not bible readers. It is not parts of the bible we reject, but parts of the bible we accept – that makes us the Sick Man of Asia.

The bible tells us to have faith. But faith means having the free will to choose to avoid knowing what is true.

Our Historical Trouble

In our schools, colleges, and universities are teachers and professors who have proven themselves incapable of deeper learning.

Death

Change Our Society

We may not be able to change our society. We can, however, change the society of a child by preventing its existence. Not by abortion, but simply by prevention. How can we know of death if we do not know of life? Now, for the sake of argument, let us assume there is life after death. Where in the universe could such a life be found? Consider our cosmic insignificance: Our entire world is only one planet circling one star in a galaxy that contains about 400 billions planets and stars and is itself only one of the several hundred billion galaxies. After death, how exactly or by what means of locomotion do we travel to any of those worlds to start enjoying eternal salvation; or, for that matter, to be start suffering with eternal damnation?

UST and HARVARD

Harvard University already produced more than 48 Nobel Laureates. These are men whose reputation for commitment to humane values and to the pursuit of the truth may be challenged. Nevertheless, Nobel Prize Winners have made authentic contribution to science and to human civilization.
Nobel prizes won by the faculty members of University of San Thomas? None yet. To think UST is older than Harvard by some 50 years. UST, however, has already produced thousands of priests and nuns who, during these past centuries are still preaching to Filipinos to love not this world, neither the things that are in this world! William Mckinley 1843-1901

On his decision as President of the United States of America to claim the Philippine Islands for the United States in 1899, Mckinley said:

“There was nothing left for us to do but to take them all, and educate the Filipinos, and uplift and civilize and Christianize them, and by God’s grace do the very best we could for them, as our fellowmen for whom Christ also died.”

Mckinley must have been a religious moron who seriously read and clearly understood bible messages. In Luke 19:27. Christ said: “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them for me.” That’s exactly what the Americans did to Filipinos in the Philippines in Christ’s name.

If Jesus Were a Jew

A so-called “Think Tank” is proposing to add a 5th year to high school, because it claims that the 10 years of primary and high school education are not enough to prepare students for college.

Who is a Moron

Any college educated Christian who keeps active and alive the lies, myths, misconceptions and distortions wrapped around Jose Rizal's life, works, and writings is a moron; especially if he does it for the glory of Jesus in the Philippines. Campaign to save hungry children stepped up. But unless there’s also a the bigger campaign to step up making birth control and family planning a stark reality, there will be a never-ending supply of hungry children living under subhuman conditions in the Philippines.
In 1947 our population was at 18 million. Sixty years later, today in 2007 our population is at 88 million. I ask those newspaper columnists who are still insisting that there is no population growth problem in the Philippines: how have we enjoyed growth, maturity, and development as a nation? Bible readers have yet to figure out why God gifted the Talking Serpent with a free will. Just exactly like those he gifted to Adam and Eve in paradise. Any one can see that there far more security guards posted everywhere in our sick society than there are policemen posted anywhere. Indeed, security guards are posted to guard banks, money changer outlets, schools, universities, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping malls, jewelry stores, pawnshops, churches, cathedrals, residential villages, hotels, motels, government buildings, office buildings, residential condominiums, beach resorts, movie theaters, sports complex, newspaper headquarters, airports, harbors and piers, even the palace of the Archbishop of Manila as well protected by security guards.
Now which foreign investor would be interested to risk investing capital in this God-fearing, faith-soaked, corrupt-ridden, crime infested, and only Catholic country in Asia? Of course the foreign criminals would be happy to come here to be among his peers. Poch Suzara

My Aim in Life

The true division of humanity is between those few who think and those many who believe. My aim is to increase the number of those who think, and decrease the number of those who believe. Indeed, to always be on the side of human liberty that enhances universal felicity.

The Cry Baby

On Jose Rizal

On this forum Rizal continues to be represented not as a thinker of great impact, or as a writer on the side of common human decency; but only as a hero killed by his enemies but that Rizal’s enemies must remain our true and faithful friends. After all, Rizal’s enemies introduce to us the concept of faith in Jesus – the Savior of the world. Hell, we Filipinos do not suffer from a social cancer. We are the victims of a religious cancer. Our blind faith sees to it that we never see it. We are proud to be college educated Christians. Who amongst us can, instead, proudly say that we are college educated Filipinos? We, the freethinkers, humanists, and heretics of this forum have had no recourse but to keep reviving, resuscitating, nay, exhuming Rizal out the cemetery to present him as one of us – alive and kicking - men of active intelligence gifted with lively analysis to assume on our shoulders what Rizal can no longer do: to continue with courage his hard struggles against the cancer called religion. They too continue to keep the true Rizal neither graspable nor reachable to everyone. They have proven themselves more at home with the writings of Moses than they should be promoting the writings of Rizal. The aim of Rizal’s Noli and Fili was to awaken our minds and hearts as Filipinos. That we belong to our own country to love and that we must promote its welfare. The Rizal Knights, however, have not even been bothered by the historical fact that Rizal has been used, abused, and misused not just to keep the Filipino confused mentally, but also to keep the Filipino inspired to enjoy social mediocrity, political stupidity, economic perversity. We have yet to hear from individual knights of Rizal throwing their bible out the window. They are no different from those religious morons who had planned, quite surreptitiously, to get Rizal facing a firing squad. Indeed, to get Rizal dead and out of the way in order to protect the lucrative business of selling Jesus – the son of a Virgin Mary, Mother of God whom millions of Filipinos pray daily to pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, amen!

Where or What is God

Let us assume for the sake of argument that somewhere in one of the millions of galaxies out there God exists. The real question, however, is where is the proof that God is male or female or an it? What is the proof that God is the God of the Jews or the Christians or the Muslims?

Senator Ninoy Aquino

Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, a devout Christian, days before he was assassinated, said: “The Filipino is worth dying for.” In order, however, to keep up with up with our religious beliefs and Christian values in the Philippines we, the Filipino, - had killed him.

MOSES - God's Favorite Author and Favorite General in God's Army

How did Moses know what verse and chapter to write to compose genesis since he was not present with pencil and paper to witness at first hand not only God’s creation, but also to translate God’s dialogue with himself? What about Adam and Eve? What language did they utilize to talk to each other and to talk to God? Moses was inspired by God to write genesis? Why then would God inspire Moses to write that He made light on the first day, but on the fourth day He made the sun to light up the day and made the moon to light up the night. What kind of astronomical nonsense is this from God for Moses to report? Again, Moses says that Adam live to 930 years. The was no calendar yet existing during that time. How did Moses figured the seconds in a minute, the minutes in an hour, the hours in a day, the days in a week, the weeks in a month, the months to comprise one year? God never told Moses that the earth is round and that it orbits around the sun! That it is also foolish to try and stop it from moving. Moses also wrote that Joshua commanded the sun to stop! It is really too bad that Adam and Eve never thought of killing and cooking the talking snake for dinner and have God over for dinner as their special guest. Moses would have made more sense writing biblical history developing as revealed by God to him. In the meantime, take a good look at Moses, God's favorite author and also God's favorite general in God's army: "They attacked Midian as the Lord had commanded Moses, and they killed all the men. Mother Teresa

It’s great to know that for a great many years, Mother Teresa enjoyed brave moments of lucidity: She courageously doubted the existence of God.

If one were actively involved in personally assisting the poor, the sick, and the downtrodden that is really suppose to be God’s duty and responsibility, why should one not doubt the existence of God who can remedy such horrors more efficiently, if not easily with his super power as the creator of the universe?

God did not want Mother Teresa to be a robot? But are not those poor, sick and downtrodden people much better off as robots than they are miserable pieces of suffering humanity?

So Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that you should follow his steps. 1 Peter 2:21. What have we here – a God, the Father, a God, the Son, and a God of the Holy Spirit with nothing else better to do except suffer? For what?

God sees our Tiny World

God sees our tiny world of hate and violence, pain, suffering, illnesses, diseases, poverty, and misery. If God, however, can still afford to feel happy and contented with his creation, I can only say that such an all-loving and merciful God has got to be something of a supernatural monster, if not some divine Jerk! Now we are told God does not want to meddle by transforming this earth into a paradise because God does not want us humans to be like robots. What stupid nonsense is this argument based upon? Any intelligent child can see how we humans, if we do not have to waste time and energy solving our silly emotional problems or dealing with our stupid religious troubles, we can devote instead our time and energy traveling around the galaxies inspecting, discovering, appreciating the beauty of God’s entire creation, and not just what he had created on this tiny planet called earth. To think that the earth is so tiny in that a million earths can easily fit inside the sun. In the meantime, traveling is like reading: it is utterly useless if one cannot change; indeed, if one refuses to make the greatest discovery of all - finding one's SELF in this world. Leonardo Da Vinci wrote briefly: "One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of the great surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he could not do." As with me, in my simplicity, even during my younger years, I discovered that I should never be afraid of the power of thought. Revelation

Revelation should be something of a direct communication. Once revelation goes through a language translation, it ceases to be a first-hand communication. In fact, it becomes a second-hand information due to sacred distortion unworthy of installation for serious consideration. Lies, Distortion and Mutilation

Here is a book used in our schools. The title is Rizal’s Life, Works and Writings: their impact on our national identity. Authored by Gapino, Gonzalez, and Pineda.
Look at these religious Filipino authors mentioning on page 135 Rizal’s great interest in science and its usefulness was expressed by him in an article: “It is our duty to follow the dreary but peaceful paths of science which lead to progress and thence to the union desired by Jesus Christ and prayed for on the night of his sorrows.” (Rizal prose, page 21)

Rizal never wrote the second part of that sentence. From his Spanish writings to English, his translators maliciously distorted and if not religiously mutilated Rizal’s scientific attitude. They tried to make Rizal appear like he is some kind of a scientific dummy. This is an example of how Rizal’s written Spanish works have been mistranslated, specially by his biographer Guerrero who was more faithful and loyal to Catholic authority than he was faithful and loyal to the subject of his biography – Rizal, the courageous man of science and philosophy. Prayerful morons prayed for rain as the nation's water supply is getting shorter. God, being so kind and generous, answered the prayers with a typhoon that brought vast devastation drowning a few among the prayerful to death by heavy rain. Then even our Archbishop asked that we pray to God for no more rain. More rains came, however, with more devastation, especially in our farms, streets and highways. Hitler's Holocaust

Hitler’s Holocaust - the killing of more than 6 million Jews in Europe during WW2 was quite a Sunday picnic compared to the American Holocaust. Since the landing of Columbus in 1492, more than 18 million native Indians have been killed in their continent. Their land, gold, silver, oil, and other valuable natural resources worth in the trillion of dollars were stolen away from these kind and generous people. Wars Caused By Religion

People’s range of thinking seems so short, if not trivial and banal or puny. When they are told that the history of war in this world has been mostly due to religion, they deny it by mentioning that there were quite a few wars that happened which religion played no part. It had never, however, occur to these religious morons that religion has nevertheless done nothing to ameliorate the conditions that led to local or global wars.

Look back half a century and witness the role played by the Catholic Church in aiding Nazi Germany. For example the German church opened its genealogical records to the Third Reich so that a person’s Jewish ancestry could be traced. Not a single German Catholic, including Adolf Hitler, was excommunicated for committing crimes against humanity. And Hitler often claimed he was serving God.
