Poverty of the Worst Kind in the Philippines

Dear Mar Patalinjug, You are 100 per cent right on target... Out of the 100 million population of the Philippines, 30 million Filipinos are caught in the sticky quagmire of poverty, living lives of extreme degradation and dehumanization... Mar, may I, however, point out that the rest of the population in our country suffer from poverty of even the worst kind - the poverty of the mind and heart... Such horrors have always kept us Filipinos poor spiritually as a people and mentally retarded historically as a nation!!! I have asked it before, I ask it again: Have we ever heard of a Filipino who got to be FILTHY RICH for believing that God is BAD??? So how come millions upon millions of Filipinos are FILTHY POOR and yet they all believe that God is GOOD! I can only repeat - the worst kind of poverty is the poverty of the mind and heart... The Chinese in China Compared to the Filipinos in the Philippines

98 per cent of all Chinese daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activities in China have only to do with nothing but work, work, and more work for the benefit of the human race down here... In the Philippines, 98 per cent of all Filipino daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activities have only to do with pray, pray, and more praying for the benefit from divine grace up there... Chinese have been irreligious as a people since the 11th century. We Filipinos have been nothing but religious as a people since the 16th century... For my part, as a Filipino atheist, I hate religion as I hate anything based on fear... Fear never promotes mental growth. Fear is a reflection of intellectual immaturity. I hate religion because it enhances deadly believing, not lively thinking. Nothing evolved in religion... The religious lies and deceptions told to our ancestors during the first century are still same old lies and deceptions told to our children in school in this 21st century... If only religion had been more about the courage to live, and not about the fear of death; indeed, if only religion were about the search of the truth, and not that this or that is the truth – I would have learned to love passionately, and not hate religion justifiably... Moreover, never, would I have ever self-expelled myself out of De la Salle University high school. Religion has been more about being a part of the security system organized by the church... It is a great business to gain wealth, power, glory, and authority... Sadly, however, there is no such thing as a security system anywhere in this world... Not as long as there is birth, growth, death, and decay... In the ultimate analysis, however, if only religion had never taught us that to be human means to be evil, fallen, and in need of rescue - religion need not have proceeded to be the greatest evils that keep the human race still pretty much bogged down in endless disgrace... As a Filipino atheist, I have every respect and admiration for the Chinese people in China... In their schools, colleges, and universities - they are taught to believe that this world can be made better in the here and now. PRAY FOR THE CONVERSION OF RUSSIA - NO KIDDING?

When we were boys and girls in school and at home some 60 years ago, we were told by our parents and teachers to PRAY FOR THE CONVERSION OF RUSSIA... Never, however, were we also told to PRAY FOR THE CONVERSION OF ISRAEL - the land where Jesus was born that never got to be converted into a Catholic country... Israel is still a Jewish State... The Jews there are still Jewish. Not Catholics!!! It shows the stupidity behind the insanity of our silly prayers... Russia never got to be converted... She is still atheistic as a country as ever... The Russians never got to be converted to be Catholics. Israel is still a Jewish State... She never got to be a Catholic country like the Philippines... In the meantime, we have college-educated saps in our forum always blessed with a school-boy mentality still insisting that we must always continue to pray and to have FAITH IN THE SON OF GOD JESUS - the SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, ESPECIALLY THE PHILIPPINES!!! NEW YORK, 25 January 2014 Dear Poch: Seriously, I think it would be worth your while to consider compiling all that you have written on Religion, Christianity, the Vatican, etc., etc. in Cyberspace systematically into a BOOK, divided into, say, at least 30 chapters. Knowing that you are still vigorous now that you are at 70, you can do it, and do a good job of it. Then get a reputable publisher to publish it. With an initial printing of, say, 20,000 copies, to be distributed to all public libraries all over the country, to all of the country's Barangays, to other institutions or parties that may profit from a revelation of the TRUTH. Once you sense a demand for the book exists, then order a second printing of X copies, enough to meet the increased demand for it. I know that you have the financial means to consider this proposed Project seriously. This will be the legacy of POCHOLO SUZARA. And many people will remember you for such a Book. Enlightened people all over the world remember BERTRAND RUSSEL for his enlightened views on Religion, Christianity, and Life.
