THE CHURCH ON TOP OF THE STATE IN THE PHILIPPINES

PNoy ally: Church leaders should concentrate on their flock, not politics October 12, 2014 - Philippine Daily Inquiry . . . Religious leaders demanding President Benigno Aquino III’s resignation should focus on strengthening the moral fiber of their flock and not on meddling in politics, an administration ally in the House of Representatives said Sunday. . . Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr. said he sees no basis for Aquino to resign despite the controversies he is facing because his administration has been effective in implementing reforms promoting good governance. . . "We have the separation of the Church and State.... Sa pananaw ko, itong ating mga kaibigang obispo should concentrate more [on] strengthening the moral fiber of all Catholics and all the people in the Philippines rather than asking for the resignation of the President," he said in an interview over dzBB radio. . . "We are a [predominantly] Roman Catholic country at maraming naniniwala na devoted catholics sa sinasabi ng ating mga obispo. The danger is that people might lose their faith or adherence to the rule of law at maniwala dito sa sinasabi ng ating mga bishops,” he said. — Xianne Arcangel/JDS, GMA News . . . OH MY DEAR CONGRESSMAN BARZAGA - HOW CAN THE CATHOLIC BISHOPS STRENGTHEN THE MORAL FIBER OF THE FLOCK WHEN THE FLOCK LIKE THE CATHOLIC BISHOPS THEMSELVES ARE DEVOID OF MORAL FIBER? SPECIALLY SINCE THE MEMBERS OF THE FLOCK ARE THE EDUCATED PRODUCTS OF CATHOLIC SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, AND UNIVERSITIES OWN AND OPERATED BY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ENJOYING TAX FREE PRIVILEGES IN OUR COUNTRY?
