I AM SORRY IF...

"I'm sorry if my atheism offends you. But guess what - your religious wars, jihads, crusades, inquisitions, censoring of free speech, brainwashing of children, murdering of albinos, forcing girls into underage marriages, female genital mutilation, stoning, pederasty, homophobia, and rejection of science and reason offends me. So, I guess we're even." - Mike Treder For my part, I too am sorry if my being a high school expelled student offends you. But guess what, I am even more offended by what the millions upon millions of college educated Filipinos have kept us Filipinos spiritually twisted as a poor people and morally distorted as a poor nation especially for the glory of Jesus on earth as he is in heaven. Poch, there’s no need to pretend you’re apologetic about offending true Christians. I’m not Catholic. But then, the Roman Catholics have already reformed their ways. You’re still living in the past. The Crusades and Inquisitions happened many years ago. They have officially renounced violence as a way of dealing with their enemies. I think your outrage is more accurately aimed at the religion of peace, but be very careful lest you lose your head. Is that why you prefer ridiculing the hapless Catholics in the Philippines? You know that they won’t retaliate with violence, nor proclaim a fatwa on you. But you have a problem, Poch. You’re an atheist, and in the atheist’s godless universe, there is no eschatological judgment. Terrorists never get their comeuppance. Death is the great leveler. Both good guys and bad guys share a common oblivion. Irreparable harms or wrongs in this life are never rectified, for there is no afterlife, no heaven or hell. Even for the handful of terrorists who are captured and punished, their crimes are so far in excess of what human justice can requite. That is pitiful, I must say.

Ken, what is even more pitiful is that there is no JUSTICE in this world or anywhere else in the universe. We all share a common doom. In the meantime, if RELIGIONS have already reformed their evil ways, you only have to thank the ATHEISTS and the HUMANISTS responsible for the good change as they were the only ones who stood up and spoke up against the evils of religions. Cheers! Poch Suzara

Poch, I don't think the Atheists and Humanists have had an impact in reforming the Roman Church as much as the Reformers did. Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Bullinger, Huss, Tyndale, Knox, the Moravians, the Huguenots, the Puritans, they all confronted the Roman Church with the truths of Scripture and many were joining the Reformation. The Catholics had to mount their own Counter-Reformation to stop the hemorrhaging. If anyone reads the Word and lives by the Word, he will become mellower, kinder and gentler. Try it Poch. You might become winsome too. Blessings! Ken Sidadayaw
