Top Ten Failed Arguments for God's Existence

There are many failed arguments for God's existence but there is one which is fundamental to them all. This is the Argument from Fear and Ignorance. Take virtually any aspect of our natural world that we don't fully understand and you'll find someone claiming that at the end of the dark tunnel there is light as God: 1.Shifting the Burden of Proof - I know God exists. If you disagree, prove otherwise. Oh you say you can't prove God doesn't exist? That's because you know he does! Well, we claim to "know" this or that we "know" that but we do not even know what "knowing" means. 2.Argument from Popularity - The vast majority of the world believes in God. This supports the universal truth that God is real, otherwise it makes no sense that so many people would believe. The same vast majority of the world also believe that the sun rises each morning and sets each evening which is not true as it but a grand illusion. 3.The Transcendental Argument - God is, by definition, a being greater than which nothing can be conceived (imagined). Existence in reality is better than existence in one's imagination. God must exist in reality; if God did not, then God would not be that than which nothing greater can be conceived (imagined). In the meantime, each unfolding reality contains the seeds of its own destruction and the embryo of the new reality that will replace it. 4.Argument from Coercion - You must believe in God/Jesus. It's your only hope for salvation. We are all doomed if we don't accept Jesus as our personal savior. It says so in the Bible. If you want to live forever and avoid suffering, you must accept God. It also says in the same bible that: "The living know that they shall die; the dead know not anything, neither have any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten." Eccl. 9:5 5.First Cause Argument - Everything that exists in our world is the result of some sort of "first cause" which brought about its existence. Therefore, there must have been a force which created the universe. That "first cause" is what we call God. Also known as Cosmological Argument. But if God can exist without a creator, why can't the world too exist without a creator? In the meantime, if God created created everything, including space and time, where was God located before he created space, and when was it before He created time? 6.Argument from Authority - God is real because the Bible (or whatever sacred text you believe in) says so. Why would so many people write so much about God if it wasn't true? If God were already all-knowing, and already existing here, there, and everywhere, why would God need to inspire authors to write about him in the bible? 7.Argument from Personal Experience - I know god exists because I can feel him. I know it in my heart; he talks to me; I feel his strength and existence flow through every fiber of my being. How do you know that it is not a sick devil who is at the bottom of your sick experience? 8.Argument from Improbability - The second law of thermodynamics says matter inevitably becomes entropic (spreads out in chaos) and this defies the observation on Earth where we see, things becoming more organized. Therefore God is responsible. Well, how come the Philippines as the only Catholic country in Asia since the 16th century still have not learned how to be organized as a people and how to be organized as a nation? 9.Pascal's Wager - It is a "safe bet" to believe in God just in case he is real. What's the harm? If you believe and he doesn't exist, you don't lose anything, but if you don't believe and he does exist, you lose big time. What if it turns out that God is not a catholic, is not a Muslim, or is not Yahweh - the God of the Jew? What then? 10.Argument from Design - If you found a watch on the ground, you never met the watchmaker, but you know from its design, the beauty of it; the way each piece was intricately designed to work together, that this watch had a creator. Theists point to the human body; the precise way each of our organs work with each other and claim it's the most amazing "creation" of all, and surely there was some sort of creator behind it. The Second Coming of Jesus

New York Times NY, New York Jan. 4, 2015 Dear Editors, Second Coming of Jesus Jesus promised His disciples He would come again. It's in the Bible, John 14:1-3: "Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trust in Me. There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with Me where I am. If this weren't so, I would tell you plainly. And you know where I am going and how to get there." The return of Jesus will be literal and real. It's in the Bible, Acts 1:10-11: "It was not long afterwards that He rose into the sky and disappeared into a cloud, leaving them staring after Him. As they were straining their eyes for another glimpse, suddenly two white-robed men were standing there among them, and said, 'Men of Galilee, why are you standing here staring at the sky? Jesus has gone away to heaven, and some day, just as He went, He will return!'" How will Jesus come again? It's in the Bible, Luke 21:27: "At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." How many will see Him when He comes? It's in the Bible, Revelation 1:7: "Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of Him." What will we see and hear when He comes? It's in the Bible, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever." How visible is His coming to be? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:27: "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man." Christ's coming will be unexpected and dramatic. It's in the BIble, 2 Peter 3:10: " But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up." What warning has Jesus given so we won't be fooled about the second coming? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:23-26: "At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is Jesus!' or 'There He is!' do not believe it. For false Jesus and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. So if anyone tells you, 'There He is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here He is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it." Does anyone know the exact time of Jesus coming? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:36: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Knowing how human it is to procrastinate, what does Jesus tell us to do? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:42: "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming." What warning has Jesus given that we might not be taken by surprise by this great event? It's in the Bible, Luke 21:34-36: " But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthyto escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man." Why is Jesus second coming taking so long? It's in the Bible, II Peter 3:8-9: "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." While we wait for Jesus, how should we live? It's in the Bible, Titus 2:11-14: " For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." What will the world be like when Jesus comes? It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:37-39: "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man." Will the Jesus coming be a time of reward? It's in the Bible, Matthew 16:27 and Revelation 22:12: "For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what he has done." "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with Me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done." Why is Jesus coming back? It's in the Bible, Hebrews 9:28: "So also Christ died only once as an offering for the sins of many people; and He will come again, but not to deal again with our sins. This time He will come bringing salvation to all those who are eagerly and patiently waiting for Him." With Jesus and His second coming, we will fully experience the reality of our salvation. It's in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 1:7-8: "Now you have every grace and blessing; every spiritual gift and power for doing His will are yours during this time of waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. And He guarantees right up to the end that you will be counted free from all sin and guilt on that day when He returns." What is the last promise Jesus gives us in the Bible? It's in the Bible, Revelation 22:20: "He who testifies to these things says, 'Surely I am coming quickly.' Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus" For us Filipino heretics, freethinkers, and unbelievers of the faith - this is all great and wonderful. What, however, is sad, painful, and regrettable is to see tens of millions of Filipino Catholics all thrilled and excited anticipating not the coming of Jesus from heaven, but the arrival of Pope Francis, the Vicar of Jesus, ( Jan. 15-19, 2015 ) in the Philippines - the poorest and most backward and the only Catholic country in Asia today!! God So Loved the World

It is clearly written in the bible that: "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." However, in the same bible, it is also clearly written that the beloved Son of God Jesus, crucified on the cross, cried out loud: 'MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?" Matt. 27:46. Well, listen also to the same Jesus, uttering nonsense in the bible: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you; for everyone that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened." Matt. 7:7-8... But according to Luke 13:24, Jesus said the exact opposite: "Strive to enter in at the straight gate; for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able." The Truth Shall Make You Free

God's Divine Plan and Man's Free Will

God has a divine plan and everything that happens or does not happen is according to his will. "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." (Isaiah 45:7). "Whatever the LORD desires he does in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the depths" (Psalms 135:6). "Indeed, she (Wisdom) spans the world from end to end mightily, and governs all things well." (Wisdom 8:1). St. Thomas Aquinas says that God's will is the cause of things (Summa Theologica)... China Today Compared to the USA and Philippines still Under Religious Insanity

I have the greatest respect and admiration for the Chinese people in China... It is not only because the Chinese people have been and still are atheistic as a people since the 11th century; but also because in this 21st century China has been the only country in this world that was able to recreate peacefully two great evils together into one great world reality... They have, quite successfully, after much thinking, and with much courage, and indeed, with great leadership managed to merge the evils of Communism and the evils of capitalism working together for them making China the richest, the most economically powerful, and the greatest nation in the world today... What America has accomplished as a nation in 200 years, China accomplished much more as a nation in less than 50 years! Breeding and Populating for More Fun in the Philippines

In our sick society, as products of a sick system of education, we Filipinos are never into more studying, more reading, more learning, more discovering, more doubting, more questioning, more improving, more understanding; indeed, we are never into more and deeper thinking. Only more hoping via more praying. In fact, in our sick country, the whole idea of success in life after our so-called college education is to make money. In this way, we can have more fun with money as it more fun in the Philippines; especially breeding and populating for our country with more babies. It explains why we Filipinos are so proud and successful in producing 3 babies every single minute of the day, or 180 babies every hour; or 4,320 babies every day; or 129,600 every month; or 1.5 million babies yearly; especially for the sake of promoting Christianity in our country down here as blessed historically by a silly divinity up there. But then again, we produce babies in the streets! Why not! After all, most our streets are no longer streets. They have already transformed into"baby factories." In the meantime, it is a spectacular sight to see: the existence of many pregnant teen-agers and many pregnant mothers carrying, breast-feeding babies or walking with a hungry child in the streets of our major cities. Most of them looking for food. What, however, is even more spectacular is seeing pregnant dogs, pregnant cats, and pregnant rats in the same streets of our major cities also searching for food. The Death of an Atheist

Nobody Wants to Die

Everybody wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die to get there. As a matter of fact, nobody wants to die because to begin with, nobody knows where heaven is located; or, by what means of transportation do we embark on in order to get to heaven! In the meantime, since not wanting to die is also a sin against God, we shall surely end down in hell. Well, as an atheist, since I do not care to go to heaven, I am told that I will end down deeper in hell for having accomplished a bigger sin against God for not wanting to go to heaven. The Mess Behind God's Creation of the Earth

The heaven where God has always lived is not physical. It has not been created. God is spirit (John_4:24). He does not need a physical place to live in. Prison Reforms? What About Education Reforms?

Prisons have very serious health implications. In our country, Filipino prisoners are likely to have existing health problems on entry to prison, as they are predominantly from poorly educated and socio-economically deprived sectors of the general population, with minimal access to adequate health services. Their health conditions deteriorate in prisons which are overcrowded, where nutrition is poor, sanitation inadequate and access to fresh air and exercise often unavailable. Psychiatric disorders, HIV infection, tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C, sexually transmitted diseases, skin diseases, malaria, malnutrition, diarrhoea and injuries including self-mutilation are the main causes of morbidity and mortality in prison. In our country, with a high prevalence of TB in the outside community, prevalence of TB can be up to 100 times higher inside the prisons. In most countries HIV infection in prisons is significantly higher than within the population outside prison, especially where drug addiction and risk behaviours are prevalent. Prison staff are also vulnerable to most of the diseases of which prisoners are at risk. Prison reforms? What about education reforms in our poor and backward country? Indeed, schools, colleges, and universities are places where most of our sinners and criminals are the sick products of. Specially college-educated sick sinners and sick criminals who end up occupying high positions in the judicial, executive, and legislative branches of our sick government! As an atheist, I said it before, I say it again: radical reforms in any society can only achieved via radical reforms of its worthless beliefs and mindless values. After all, it is nature's decree: on this earth, the aim of life as a people should be self-improvement via thinking; and the aim of life as a nation is self-development via more thinking. Solutions to Non-existing Problems

The religious morons ask: what is the cause the universe?" I would rather ask an intelligent question: "Does the universe require a causal explanation?" Here's more of a question that is based upon stupidity: "what is responsible for the design in nature?" Rather, I should first ask: Does nature exhibit design?"... Indeed, to prove a supernatural "first cause" the believer must demonstrate, not assume, that the universe requires a causal explanation. My Death as an Atheist

GOD WILL PROVIDE JUST LISTEN

In fact, after all these past centuries, don't you think that it is time for you to be omnipresent? Why are you only always omni-absent? I still remember my teachers in grade school, my parents, grand-parents, and great grand-parents at home always bragging that "GOD WILL PROVIDE!" In the Beginning

In the beginning God created the heavens and earth. Genesis 1:1... Is this some kind of a sick joke? How could God create anything in the beginning when the theologians tell us that God himself had no beginning? Jesus is Coming but When

What about those more than 100 BILLION people who already lived and died on this earth since Jesus, more than two thousand years ago, declared the following as written in the bible: Matt. 10:23 – When giving instructions to his disciples as to just how they are to go about spreading his message Jesus says, “for truly I say unto you, you shall not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of man comes.” Matt. 26:28 - Jesus says, “There are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.” Matt. 24:33-34 - After prophesying a wide assortment of events including the second coming, Jesus said, “ . . . when you shall see all these things, know that it ( the 2nd coming ) is near, even at the door. This generation shall not pass till these things be fulfilled.” Jesus was obviously referring to the contemporary generation. Matt. 26:74 – When brought before Caiaphas, the chief priest, Jesus said to him, “ I will tell you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man . . . coming on the clouds of heaven.” According to this the second coming was to happen during Caiaphas’ lifetime. Mark 9:1 - And he said unto them, “verily, I say unto you, that there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Luke 21: 27-28 – “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Luke 21:32 – “verily I say unto you, “This generation shall not pass way, till all be fulfilled.” 1 Thess 4: 15-17 – In his first epistle to the Thessalonians Paul assures the congregation that the second coming is very near,” . . . “we who are alive,” . . . shall not proceed those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven . . . and the dead Christ shall rise first . . . To Know Christ is to Hate Knowledge

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury the dead. Matt. 10:34-35 “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth. I came not to send peace, but a sword,” “For I am come to set a Man at variance against his father, and daughter against her mother.” Matt. 19:29 “And everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.” Mark 10:29-30 “There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s. But he shall receive a hundredfold now in time… with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.” Mark 13:12 “Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.” Luke 12:51-53 :Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? If any man serve me, him will my father honor.” Well, for my part, I ask: Is it any wonder why Jesus got crucified on the cross by his own brothers and sisters created in His own image and likeness. But then again, who was crucified on the cross? If it was God, why would God cry out” “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?” If it was a man on the cross, what right had he to cry out: “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 22:34. Again, Jesus in the bible, prays to: “God, the Father.” Yet, Father and Son and the Holy Spirit are one and the same person according to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity. In fact, Jesus admitted that “I and my father are one.” John 10:30. If Jesus could pray to Himself, wasn’t it rather silly that as a God Himself, he could not answer his own prayer? This was during the 1st century. Today in the 21st century, I am told that an ANTI-CHRIST movement is on the rise in Europe. But Christ was not born in Europe, he was born in Israel that today is not a Christian country like the Philippines. It is a Jewish State. How come the Anti-Christ movement in Israel, the land where Christ was born, has been quite a success? I Celebrate Christmas With These Precious Thoughts

We are told that we are saved not by what we do but by trusting what Christ has done. To think that this is the same Christ who was born of a Jewish family in Jewish town under Jewish culture and tradition some 2,000 years ago. Israel today is not even a Christian country. It is a Jewish State populated by Jews, ruled by Jews, and inspired by Judaism – a major religion that does not celebrate Christmas – the Birth of Christ. . . In this already 21st century, if Christ cares not to save his native fellow-Jews in Israel, why should Christ bother to save the Filipinos or even save the Philippines?

In the meantime, the pleasures in growth and positive achievement, the love of life, happy, expansive, generous, and creative; glad when others happy, and not glad when others are not happy - are the precious things on my mind while I celebrate Christmas this year. Indeed, for this Christmas, I should wish to celebrate the birth of the Filipino capacity to think, especially to think in terms of growth as a decent people, and  development of the Philippines as a decent nation. The Existence of Germs, Bacteria, and Viruses Not Mentioned in the Bible

How come there is no mention in the holy bible of the existence of germs, viruses, and bacteria as a Revealed Truth? And when God told Noah to save the animals, two of a kind, did Noah know that he was saving such microscopic creatures? . . . Now listen to what science tells us about the world of bacteria, germs, and viruses: - - - If there was no bacteria, humans and plants wouldn't be able to live. . . Bacteria help our bodies develop, and they do a process of nitrogen fixation to help plants give us oxygen. . . Therefore, without bacteria nothing on earth would be able to live. . . . Everyone would die, since we need bacteria inside our body to digest food for us. . . Good bacteria (Normal Flora) breaks down nitrogen and without nitrogen, the plants cannot grow, and without plants, no oxygen. Therefore, no bacteria, no life. . . But we as humans have bacteria on our body. . . Not all bacteria is bad. . . So, if there just wasn't bacteria, then I think it could be bad, because what would happen to the things that need good bacteria to survive? Or even things that need bad bacteria to survive. I don't know if you are familiar with the butterfly effect, but to sum it up quick. . . It means that one small thing can drastically change everything. Bacteria also make vaccines & when something dies, plant or animal, bacteria is what decomposes it. . . When things are rotting, its just bacteria releasing carbon & other important nutrients out of the dead organism and into the air and soil. . . They also decompose compost and sewage which helps create methane. . . If bacteria didn't exist, the waste would just keep accumulating at record speed and interfere with the existence of everything living on earth. . . Plus decomposition returns carbon dioxide into the air which enables plants and the rest of the world to survive. . . As a little boy at home and in school, I enjoyed playing all kinds of games including making my own toys to play with. After I was expelled out of high school, however, I gradually lost my interest in playing or watching games such as football, basketball, baseball, swimming, golf, tennis, handball, boxing, etc. Except, I must mention, I never lost my interest in playing the drums.
