Reality

No matter who or what or where we are, male or female, poor or rich, married or single, atheistic, Asiatic, or just plain pathetic, bucolic, or even jesuitic as a catholic – each and everyone one of us, whether we like it or not, are the victims of mockery as generated by reality. Consider:

Each unfolding reality contains the seeds of its own destruction and the embryo of a new reality that will replace it.

Life terrestrially everywhere is all about such reality – birth, growth, death, and decay. It's all so mindless, directionless, not to mention utterly meaningless. Purposeless.

Short and brief and fleeting as life is, I would rather look into the Greek spirit of the ancient world: To find life beautiful and delightful to live in was the mark of a Greek spirit.

In the meantime, enlightenment is not something to achieve. It is something to experience. Poch Suzara

Poch,

You are very scared. In reality death is a good thing, the ultimate equalizer, everyone dies no matter what. Those of us who believe wants to see God after our life here on earth. Our belief is not based on some non sense superstition like what you are trying to portray here.

If you will look at the data properly you will end up believing in God.

My dear, indeed, if we must die, let us die sober, and not drunk with lies.
You are obviously a woman of faith. Well, a woman of faith is like a drunkard who clings to a lamppost for support, not illumination. Poch

Athomist: Yes, your belief is based on superstition, albeit, the highest form! I have no doubt that you want to see your god when you die, and it is a very comforting thought while you are alive. You will be disappointed. I would like to see this data that you are talking about. Where can I find it.

Athomist: Oops, I forgot. Yes, your belief is superstition. You're not just aware of it because you've been brainwashed at an early age. Muslims don't think Islam is abased on superstition, so do the Hindus, and the Jains, and the Buddhists, and the Sikhs, and the Mormons, and the Adventists, and the INKs, and the Mennonites!

PinoyHeathen,

"Yes, your belief is based on superstition"

Very funny, science now know that the universe began some 13.7 billion years ago, you didnt know isnt it ? You have to base your arguments on facts.

Poch,

"You are obviously a woman of faith. "

It takes more faith not to believe in God, did you know that ? You really dont know if in deed there is no God. like me you are taking it by faith. At least I have better arguments than you.

PinoyHeathen,

"You're not just aware of it because you've been brainwashed at an early age"

That is a lot of assumptions on your part and wrong too. I can equally say that you've been brainwashed too. It is the Catholics that combined God and philosophy (reason).

We dont believe because we have to, but because it is reasonable to. Big difference with other form of Christianity and religions.

You are just parroting Pastor Rick Warren's words. The burden of proof is on the one making the claim that there is a god, just like any other claims. I thought you already knew that. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence (I do not claim it's my original quote). You are getting annoyed and you are really becoming very desperate.

Says you! Well, I guess you can praise yourself.

The reasons why you are a Christian are because you were born in the Philippines, and your parents were Christians. You didn't choose to be a Christian. Had you been born a few hundred miles to the south, you would have been a Muslim, a few hundred miles to the east, and you would have been a Buddhist. You were born an atheist just like anybody else. Even now, you are still an atheist, but you don't know it. As far as other gods, you don't believe in them. During the Roman Empire, the Christians were called 'atheists.'

How? That god made the sun and the entire universe revolve around the earth? The earth is 6,000 years old?

I admit I was. Until about 15 years ago, I was an above-average Catholic. I had an 'epiphany', saw the light, and I was able to get out of the brainwashing. I have freed myself and now I can think for myself, unlike the followers of Mike Velarde, Quiboloy, Soriano, priests, pastors, imams, the Pope, etc.

Very funny, this is not Catholic belief. You are not able to distinguish between a protestant, non-Christians and Catholic belief.

Science flourished with the Church.

We are both making a claim.

Pascals wager proved you a loser.

PnoyHeathen,

Come to think of it, we have intelligence. Random has no intelligence, chance is random, can chance produce intelligence ?

Oops, my bad! You're right, it is the evangelical Christians, the YECs or young earth creationists who believe that the earth is only 6,000 years old. You are an OED, old earth creationist, like Pope John Paul II. He is the one who accepted evolution.

I thought you'll only know it when you die! Is there an amendment to Pascal's wager?

Ha, ha, ha, ha! LOL. Yeah, sure. Whatever.

"Science flourished with the Church."

But of course! In astronomy, the Church proved that the sun, the planets and the entire universe revolve around the earth. The earth does not move and the moon produces its own light. In medicine, diseases are caused by Satan. In botany, the mustard seed is the smallest seed. Plants were created before god created the sun. In earth science, tornadoes, earthquakes and floods are caused by god. The world is flat with four corners.

I can see that you don't believe in evolution. That's alright, I understand. The story of Adam and Eve, created from dirt or rib, depending on the Genesis version, talking snake, Noah's ark with a pair of all the animal in the world, and the worldwide flood are more plausible and the best explanation. The older creation stories from the Chinese, the Indians and other civilizations are just fairy tales and should not be taken seriously.

You are not answering my question

"..can chance produce intelligence ?

I thought you had enough 'intelligence' to know what I was alluding to in my response. I will answer your question in a more straightforward way.

No, chance does not produce intelligence. Over billions of years, one-celled organisms developed organs and limbs, gained complexity into different species, some with sophisticated brains and intelligence through a very slow process called evolution by natural selection. I can already imagine your next question!

So where did this one cell came from ?

Argggghhhhh ! Ever heard of Ptolemy ? Cupernicus ? Galileo ? The Church has always believe that science is not the correct tool to prove God, the reason why the Church became involve in this controversy is because of science's insistence to reinterpret the bible. This is the Galileo controversy.

The very same thing Dawkins is doing now and on the Christian side, the protestants who believe in the 6 day creation. We Catholics do not believe in the literal interpretation of genesis.

"...I can already imagine your next question!

Just as I expected! I do not know, and so do you. I'm sure that you will be using the cop-out answer - god, the Roman Catholic version. The usual 'god-of-the-gaps' answer. I thought you know science. Evolution is not about where the first cell came from. That is another area called abiogenesis.

Anonymous said...

"..science's insistence to reinterpret the bible."

Of course, science is wrong that the earth revolves around the sun. The earth is the center of the universe, and everything revolves around it. Take it from our science expert, Ms. Athomist.

No, NOT ALL Protestants believe in the 6-day creation.

"We Catholics do not believe in the literal interpretation of genesis."

You should not believe in the literal Adam and Eve then! .. and Cain and Abel, and Noah's ark, and the flood, and the talking snake, and the Tower of Babel...

You believe whatever is convenient. You believe whatever the church teaches. You should believe in evolution because Pope John Paul II did!

"Argggghhhhh ! Ever heard of Ptolemy ? Cupernicus ? Galileo ?"

I’m not sure if you are implying that those three characters helped science flourish because of the church. Ptolemy lived in the second century way before Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman empire. He came up with the geocentric model of the Universe, which is consistent with your church’s teachings. Copernicus introduced the heliocentric model which Galileo supported. This is against your church’s ‘science’, that is why he was placed under house arrest for the rest of his life. Giordano Bruno was less fortunate. Of course, the Roman Catholic Church corrected their mistake when they ‘pardoned’ Galileo in the early 90s.

"..science is not the correct tool to prove God.."

Leave science alone then! It is not for you. Stay ignorant.

Anonymous said...

"This is the Galileo controversy."

There is no controversy. The earth revolves around the sun, just like the rest of its planets. He wasn't reinterpreting the Bible, he was presenting a scientific TRUTH that is contrary to what this book says, and which is not acceptable to the idiots of the Catholic Church.

Anonymous said...

"The very same thing Dawkins is doing now..."

Dawkins is an evolutionary biologist, a real scientist. If your church believes that science is not the correct tool to prove god, why are you bothered by what he says? Ignore him then, science is not for you. We came from Eve (as you said), end of argument.

You're all right. Give these a men a break. We all know we need money to feed our family. If we try to attack those religious people especially the priests, the nun, the POPE etc. They might might lose their means of living.

Did I mention they are here for the money?
