The Philippines not as a Republic, but as a Catholic Country
Spain conquered the Philippines with the sword in one arm and the cross on the other. The arm that held the sword had been cut away, as it were. The arm that holds the cross is still very much in tact.
This has been made possible by vast number of schools, colleges, and universities own and operated by the Catholic church. Yearly, such sick system of education produces not well-informed Filipinos as citizens of our country; but as devout and faithful Catholics prepared to defend and to protect and to promote Catholicism.
The majority of Filipinos as products of Catholic education are selfish, greedy, sick, and insane. But that's not the horror of it all. Imagine such Filipinos as husbands to their wives at home; as teachers and professors in schools, colleges, and universities; as priests, bishops, and cardinals in church; as lawyers and judges in court; as congressmen and senators in the government. Thus, as the Sick Man of Asia we Filipinos would never identify ourselves as proud citizens of our Republic, but only as faithful members of the church as Catholics.
Indeed, only in the Philippines, a Jew born in a foreign Jewish land some 2,000 years ago is a more loved, more respected, and more venerated Savior than our one and only intellectual giant - Jose Rizal, our national hero, born in the Philippines some 200 years ago.
