Religion as the Greatest of Evils in this World

Religion promotes tribalism, anchors believers back to the Dark Ages, makes a virtue out of faith, diverts good intention for humanity to a silly divinity, teaches helplessness, generates political stupidity, encourages social insanity, makes you believe that there is a better world to come after death, and religion seeks power... In the Philippines, Christianity has kept the Filipino spiritually twisted as a people and morally distorted as a nation... We are the only country in Asia today that believe that the Lord Jesus, the Son of a Jewish God, will soon be returning as written in the bible some 2,000 years ago! Yes, Jesus promised to return to remedy the historical ills out of our sick society! Moreover, that Jesus will transform the Philippines into something of a paradise in Asia! More than a billion Filipinos who already lived and died in our God-forsaken country since Christianity arrived in the 16th century have faithfully believed and still do faithfully believe in this holy garbage more referred to as the truth revealed! Poch, I don’t accept your statement that religion is the greatest of evils in the world. Atheistic communism is arguably more sinister and evil. Communist regimes have killed a hundred million of their own people through pogroms, mass executions, starvations, and the gulags. They have killed more people in the last 100 years than all the people killed in wars, crusades and inquisitions in the previous nineteen hundred years involving so called Christians. But then, as an atheist, you have no moral foundation for making any moral claim that anything is evil. You can certainly say that that religious people, just like the irreligious, have done things that displease you, but the concepts of “right” and “wrong” are meaningless in an atheistic universe because there can be no objective universal standard – only personal, subjective opinions.

Ken, Indeed, Communism is a religion, just like Christianity. The communists advocate a religious way of life on the basis of irrational dogmas; they have a sacred history, a Messiah, and a priesthood. The history of the struggle of Christianity against communism was not a struggle of GOOD against EVIL; but a struggle of EVIL against EVIL. In any case, EVIL always wins! Cheers! Poch Suzara

Ken, please read your bible. More people have been killed by God than all the wars on earth waged by man. In fact, you might question as to what right has God to tell you how to raise your children when He himself drowned to death his own children during the Great Flood. Cheers! Poch Suzara

Poch, God said that the man that sins, he will die. That's what he told Adam and Eve. The wages of sin is death. The proof that you are a sinner, Poch, is that you too shall die. Ten out of ten people die. It's not just those who died in the flood but everyone else will die. It's not a question of if, or how, but when will you die. God being Creator has the prerogative to take life. He gives and he takes away. What's our complaint? He is the potter, you are but clay.
