Confucius and the Filipino as a People

In China, centuries ago, Confucius wrote: ORDINARY MINDS TALK ABOUT PEOPLE. AVERAGE MINDS TALK ABOUT EVENTS. GREAT MINDS TALK ABOUT IDEAS. In the Philippines, however, thanks to our sick system of education via schools, colleges, and universities - we Filipinos are not curious about ourselves as a people; we are not curious of the history of our country; we are not even curious about the power of new and fresh ideas. We are only curious about life after death with God in heaven. As if there is life after death; as if there is a heaven; as if there is a God always ready and willing to punish you for not having more faith in His authority, power, glory, and divine mediocrity!
