Lively Analysis versus Deadly Paralysis

The purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open one. . . Malcolm Forbes . . . The purpose of indoctrination, however, is to open the mind to learn how to be stupid as believers, and not to learn how to be intelligent as thinkers. . . In our schools, colleges, and universities in the Philippines - the only Catholic country in Asia since the 16th century - there is no such thing as education under lively analysis. . . There is only, for the most part, indoctrination under deadly paralysis. . . College-educated writers on these pages are the best examples of what it means to think not under lively analysis; but indeed only to believe, like frightened jerks, under deadly paralysis! . . .
